PERSONAL STORY

Emily is a New York City native, raised in the heart of Chinatown. As a competitive cross country and track & field athlete through high school and college, she lived and breathed running. But like most athletes, she knows what it feels like when your body has other plans. A knee and adductor injury sidelined her, and navigating her own return to sport gave her a whole new perspective on what it means to truly heal.

These days, you’ll still find her running recreationally and in the gym, building the strength and athleticism for whatever race she decides to sign up for next. Off the clock, she’s chasing good food, solid coffee and tea, and flights to somewhere she’s never been before.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY

Emily’s approach is based on understanding that exercise is medicine and that training is rehab. She wants every client to truly understand their body and the why behind what we’re doing. She specializes in sports-related and orthopedic injuries, pelvic floor health, and training for life — whether that looks like getting back on the field, tackling a new race, or just feeling strong and resilient in your everyday life. She’s as invested in your progress as you are. She is consistently pursuing continuing education and coaching to bring the best to every client she works with.

CREDENTIALS

What’s it Like to Work with Emily?

“Cannot recommend Perfect Stride enough! I worked with Emily Yong over the course of about a year. Prior to working with Perfect Stride, I had been caught in a multi-year injury cycle and could never get back to running consistently-no matter what l tried, including other physical therapy clinics. Through Emily’s guidance ranging from strength training to plyometrics to recovery to slowly building up mileage, I’ve been able to finally run consistently again and have my first ever half marathon coming up this Sunday. Emily has a unique blend of expertise stemming from her own experience running track & field and it was definitely a highlight every week getting to work with her. If I ever have any physical therapy needs as I look to run my first marathon later this year, there’s no question I’ll be returning to Perfect Stride.”
